登 — dēng

1. to ascend; to climb; to mount (a height)

   他登上了山顶。 tā dēngshàng le shāndǐng — He climbed to the top of the mountain.

2. to publish or record; to enter (e.g. in a register, a list)

   他的名字已经登在名单上。 tā de míngzì yǐjīng dēngzài míngdān shàng — His name has already been entered on the list.

3. to press down with the foot; to step on; to tread on

   别登在那盆花上！ bié dēngzài nà pénhuā shàng — Don't step on that flower pot!

4. to put on (shoes or trousers) — dialectal usage

   小孩已经登好鞋，准备出门。 xiǎohái yǐjīng dēng hǎoxié zhǔnbèi chūmén — The child has already put on his shoes and is ready to go out.

5. to be gathered and taken to the threshing ground (archaic/old)

   秋收之后，农人将谷物登于场上晾晒。 qiūshōu zhīhòu nóngrén jiāng gǔwù dēng yú chǎngshàng liàngshài — After the autumn harvest, farmers gathered the grain onto the threshing floor to dry.
