疼 — téng

1. to hurt; to be in pain (of a part of the body)

   我的手很疼，拿不动东西。 wǒ de shǒu hěn téng ná bùdòng dōngxī — My hand hurts a lot; I can't hold things.

2. sore; aching (describing a part of the body)

   运动后全身都很疼。 yùndòng hòu quánshēn dōu hěn téng — After exercising my whole body is very sore.

3. to love dearly; to be very fond of (colloquial, often used like '疼爱')

   奶奶很疼小孙子，总是给他买糖果。 nǎinǎi hěn téng xiǎosūnzi zǒngshì gěi tā mǎi tángguǒ — Grandma dotes on her little grandson and always buys him candy.
