1. a person's whole life; lifetime

   他生平寡言，很少与人争论。 tā shēngpíng guǎyán hěnshǎo yǔ rén zhēnglùn — He was taciturn in his life and rarely argued with others.

2. in one's entire life; never (used to emphasize that something has never happened)

   我生平第一次看到这么美的日出。 wǒ shēngpíng dìyīcì kàndào zhème měide rìchū — In my whole life this is the first time I've seen such a beautiful sunrise.
