1. environment; the natural or built surroundings in which people, animals, or plants live

   保护环境是每个人的责任。 bǎohùhuánjìng shì měigè rén de zérèn — Protecting the environment is everyone's responsibility.

2. circumstances; the set of conditions or factors affecting a situation (often social or economic)

3. surroundings; the immediate physical setting or atmosphere around a person or thing
