   他一听到那个消息，脸上显得很狼狈。 tā yī tīngdào nàge xiāoxī liǎnshàng xiǎnde hěn lángbèi — When he heard the news, he looked very embarrassed.

2. to make a sorry/show a sorry figure; to be in an undignified state

   在会议上他答不上来问题，显得很狼狈。 zài huìyì shàng tā dá bù shànglái wèntí xiǎnde hěn lángbèi — He couldn't answer the questions at the meeting and looked very sorry for himself.

3. scoundrel! (derogatory interjection/insult)
