片 — piàn

1. thin piece; flake; a slice

   请给我一片面包。 qǐng gěi wǒ yīpiàn miànbāo — Please give me a slice of bread.

2. film; TV play; (a movie or TV episode)

   这部片很感人，我看哭了。 zhèbù piàn hěn gǎnrén wǒ kàn kū le — This film is very moving; I cried watching it.

3. to slice; to carve thin

   把黄瓜片成薄片放进沙拉里。 bǎ huángguāpiàn chéng báopiàn fàngjìn shālā lǐ — Slice the cucumber into thin pieces and put them in the salad.

4. partial; incomplete; one-sided

   他只给出了片面的证据，不能说明问题。 tā zhǐ gěichū le piànmiàn de zhèngjù bùnéng shuōmíng wèntí — He only provided one-sided evidence; it can't explain the issue.

5. classifier for slices, tablets; also for tracts of land or areas of water

   我买了三片药，每天两次。 wǒ mǎi le sānpiàn yào měitiān liǎngcì — I bought three tablets; take twice a day.

6. classifier for CDs, movies, DVDs, etc.

   那家公司发行了好几片 DVD。 nàjiā gōngsī fāxíng le hǎojǐpiàn D V D — That company released several DVDs.

7. used with the numeral 一 (yī) as a classifier for a scenario/scene/feeling/atmosphere/sound (e.g., 一片宁静)

   清晨的公园里一片宁静。 qīngchén de gōngyuán lǐ yīpiàn níngjìng — The park was peaceful in the early morning.

1. disk; sheet (flat, thin object)

   请把那片玻璃小心地拿走。 qǐng bǎ nà piàn bōlí xiǎoxīn dì názǒu — Please take that piece of glass away carefully.

2. sheet (of paper), plate; a thin flat portion

   桌上有好几片纸。 zhuōshàng yǒu hǎojǐpiàn zhǐ — There are several sheets of paper on the table.
