   这是我的爱人，我们结婚十年了。 zhè shì wǒ de àirén wǒmen jiéhūn shínián le — This is my spouse; we've been married ten years.

2. lover; romantic partner (non-PRC usage, can imply an extramarital or non-marital relationship)

   他们私下里称彼此为爱人，但并没有结婚。 tāmen sīxiàlǐ chēng bǐcǐ wèi àirén dàn bìng méiyǒu jiéhūn — They privately call each other 'lover', but they're not married.
