1. tide (rise and fall of the sea)

   今天傍晚海潮涨了，浪花打上了礁石。 jīntiān bàngwǎn hǎicháo zhǎng le lànghuā dǎshàng le jiāoshí — The tide rose this evening and waves washed over the rocks.

2. damp; moist; humid (feels slightly wet)

   外面下雨，衣服还很潮。 wàimiàn xiàyǔ yīfú hái hěn cháo — It's raining outside; the clothes are still damp.

3. fashionable; trendy (colloquial, positive)

   这件衣服很潮，大家都喜欢。 zhèjiàn yīfú hěn cháo dàjiā dōu xǐhuān — This piece of clothing is very trendy; everyone likes it.

4. (colloq.) inferior; poor quality; substandard

   这台旧机器质量太潮，根本不耐用。 zhè tái jiù jīqì zhìliàng tài cháo gēnběn bùnài yòng — This old machine is of really poor quality and isn't durable at all.
