滚动 — gǔndòng

1. to roll (move by turning over and over)

   小球在地上不停地滚动。 xiǎoqiú zài dìshàng bùtíng dì gǔndòng — The small ball kept rolling on the ground.

2. (of a process) to execute repeatedly; to loop (do something in a loop)

   这个程序会在遇到错误时滚动重试三次。 zhège chéngxù huì zài yùdào cuòwù shí gǔndòng zhòngshì sāncì — The program will loop and retry three times when it encounters an error.

3. to scroll (computing) — move content up/down or left/right on a screen

   你可以用鼠标滚动来查看整篇文章。 nǐ kěyǐ yòng shǔbiāo gǔndòng lái chákàn zhěngpiānwénzhāng — You can scroll with the mouse to view the whole article.

4. to progressively expand or roll over (finance/economics) — e.g., roll debt or contracts forward

   公司计划通过滚动债务来延长还款期限。 gōngsī jìhuà tōngguò gǔndòng zhàiwù lái yáncháng háikuǎn qīxiàn — The company plans to roll its debt to extend the repayment period.

5. to rumble (of thunder); to roll (a distant sound)

   远处雷声在山谷间不停地滚动。 yuǎnchù léishēng zài shāngǔ jiān bùtíng dì gǔndòng — The thunder in the distance kept rumbling through the valley.
