1. to overflow; to spill over

   大雨导致河水溢出堤岸，许多村庄被淹没。 dàyǔ dǎozhì héshuǐ yìchū dīàn xǔduō cūnzhuāng bèi yānmò — The heavy rain caused the river to overflow its banks, and many villages were flooded.

2. (literary) excessive; overflowing (figurative)

   他的喜悦溢于言表，大家都能感受到他的兴奋。 tā de xǐyuè yìyúyánbiǎo dàjiā dōu nénggǎn shòudào tā de xīngfèn — His joy overflowed his words; everyone could feel his excitement.
