   把这些蔬菜清洗干净再吃。 bǎ zhèxiē shūcài qīngxǐ gānjìng zài chī — Wash these vegetables thoroughly before eating.

2. (fig.) to purge; to remove (corrupt officials, undesirable elements)

   政府正在清洗腐败分子以恢复公众信任。 zhèngfǔ zhèngzài qīngxǐ fǔbàifènzǐ yǐ huīfù gōngzhòng xìnrèn — The government is purging corrupt elements to restore public trust.
