涮 — shuàn

1. to rinse; to wash briefly by swishing in water

   把菜在水里涮一涮。 bǎ cài zài shuǐlǐ shuàn yī shuàn — Rinse the vegetables quickly in water.

2. to trick; to fool someone (colloquial)

   别想涮我！ bié xiǎng shuàn wǒ — Don't try to trick me!

3. to cook (thinly sliced food) by dipping briefly into boiling water or broth (as in hot pot)

   我们去涮火锅吧。 wǒmen qù shuàn huǒguō ba — Let's go eat hot pot.
