浮动 — fúdòng

1. to drift; to move unsteadily

   小船在湖面上随波浮动。 xiǎochuán zài húmiàn shàng suí bō fúdòng — The small boat drifted on the lake.

2. to fluctuate; to rise and fall; to be changeable

   商品价格在市场上不断浮动。 shāngpǐnjiàgé zài shìchǎng shàng bùduàn fúdòng — Commodity prices keep fluctuating in the market.

3. (economics) to float (a currency or rate)

   政府决定让本国货币制度部分浮动。 zhèngfǔ juédìng ràng běnguóhuòbì zhìdù bùfèn fúdòng — The government decided to let the national currency float partially.
