浮 — fú

1. to float; to drift on a liquid or in the air

   树叶在水面上轻轻地浮着。 shùyè zài shuǐmiàn shàng qīngqīngdì fú zhe — The leaves are gently floating on the surface of the water.

2. superficial; shallow (not deep)

   他的理解太浮，没抓住问题的本质。 tā de lǐjiě tài fú méi zhuāzhù wèntí de běnzhì — His understanding is too superficial; he didn't grasp the essence of the problem.

3. temporary; provisional; transient

   这是一个浮动的安排，最终日程还会调整。 zhè shì yígè fúdòng de ānpái zuìzhōng rìchéng hái huì tiáozhěng — This is a provisional arrangement; the final schedule will still be adjusted.

4. unstable; movable; not fixed

   这座建筑的基础很浅，结构显得有些浮。 zhè zuò jiànzhù de jīchǔ hěn qiǎn jiégòu xiǎnde yǒuxiē fú — The building's foundation is shallow; the structure seems somewhat unstable.

5. impetuous; rash; frivolous (acting without depth or steadiness)

   他做事太浮，往往草率犯错。 tā zuòshì tài fú wǎngwǎng cǎoshuài fàncuò — He acts too rashly and often makes careless mistakes.

6. hollow; inflated; excessive; superfluous (more than necessary)

   文章辞藻过于浮，读起来不够真诚。 wénzhāng cízǎo guòyú fú dú qǐlái bùgòu zhēnchéng — The article's wording is overly inflated and doesn't read as sincere.

7. to exceed (a limit); to be superfluous; surplus

   这部分开支浮出预算，需重新审批。 zhèbùfèn kāizhī fúchū yùsuàn xū chóngxīn shěnpī — This part of the expenditure exceeds the budget and needs reapproval.
