洒 — sǎ

1. to sprinkle (liquid or small particles)

   她在蛋糕上洒了些糖粉。 tā zài dàngāo shàng sǎ le xiē tángfěn — She sprinkled some powdered sugar on the cake.

2. to spray (water, perfume, etc.)

   工人用高压水枪洒掉了路面的泥土。 gōngrén yòng gāoyā shuǐqiāng sǎ diào le lùmiàn de nítǔ — Workers sprayed the road with high-pressure water to remove the mud.

3. to spill (liquid accidentally)

   别把咖啡洒在衣服上。 bié bǎ kāfēi sǎ zài yīfú shàng — Don't spill the coffee on your clothes.

4. to shed (tears) — literary or poetic usage

   听到那个故事，她不禁洒下了眼泪。 tīngdào nàge gùshì tā bùjīn sǎxià le yǎnlèi — Hearing that story, she couldn't help shedding tears.
