泄气 — xièqì

1. to leak (gas, air); (of a tire) to be flat

   我的自行车轮胎泄气了，出门要补胎。 wǒ de zìxíngchē lúntāi xièqì le chūmén yào bǔtāi — My bicycle tire leaked/get a flat; I need to repair it before going out.

2. to be discouraged; to lose heart

   考试考砸了，他有点泄气，不想复习了。 kǎoshì kǎo zá le tā yǒudiǎn xièqì bùxiǎng fùxí le — He did poorly on the exam and is a bit discouraged; he doesn't want to review anymore.

3. (disparaging) pathetic; dispirited

   他说的话真泄气，让人听了很不舒服。 tā shuō dehuà zhēn xièqì ràng rén tīng le hěn bù shūfú — What he said was really pathetic/disheartening; it made people feel uncomfortable.

4. to vent one's anger; to give vent to (feelings)

   他工作压力大，周末常去打拳泄气。 tā gōngzuò yālì dà zhōumò cháng qù dǎquán xièqì — He has a lot of work stress; on weekends he often goes boxing to vent his anger.
