泄 — xiè

1. to leak out (liquid, gas, information); (bound form)

   管子破裂后，水开始泄出来。 guǎn zi pò liè hòu ， shuǐ kāi shǐ xiè chū lái 。 — After the pipe burst, water began to leak out.

2. to discharge; to release (pressure, energy, contents)

   设备运行时会把多余的电流泄掉以保护电路。 shè bèi yùn xíng shí huì bǎ duō yú de diàn liú xiè diào yǐ bǎo hù diàn lù 。 — The device discharges excess current during operation to protect the circuit.

3. (fig.) to divulge; to reveal (usually information that should be kept secret)

   有人把会议的细节泄给了记者。 yǒu rén bǎ huì yì de xì jié xiè gěi le jì zhě 。 — Someone leaked the details of the meeting to the reporter.
