江山 — jiāngshān

1. rivers and mountains; landscape (poetic, often praising the beauty of the land)

   江山如此多娇，引无数英雄竞折腰。 jiāng shān rú cǐ duō jiāo ， yǐn wú shù yīng xióng jìng zhé yāo 。 — The rivers and mountains are so charming that countless heroes vie for glory.

2. the country; the nation (often used metonymically for the state or homeland)

   保卫祖国，守护我们的江山。 bǎo wèi zǔ guó ， shǒu hù wǒ men de jiāng shān 。 — Defend the motherland; protect our country.

3. state power; regime; the rule or authority that controls the country

   朝廷的江山易手后，政局发生了剧变。 cháo tíng de jiāng shān yì shǒu hòu ， zhèng jú fā shēng le jù biàn 。 — After the court's power changed hands, the political situation underwent dramatic change.
