水分 — shuǐfèn

1. moisture content; amount of water in a substance

   这批粮食的水分太高，容易发霉。 zhè pī liángshí de shuǐfèn tài gāo róngyì fāméi — The moisture content of this batch of grain is too high; it can easily go moldy.

2. (fig.) padding; filler material added to meet a quota or make results look better

   他的成绩有水分，别光看排名。 tā de chéngjì yǒu shuǐfèn bié guāng kàn páimíng — His grades have padding; don't just look at the ranking.

3. overstatement; exaggeration (saying something contains more than it really does)

   广告里说产品零缺陷，有点儿水分吧。 guǎnggào lǐ shuō chǎnpǐn líng quēxiàn yǒudiǎnér shuǐfèn ba — The ad claims the product has zero defects — that's a bit of an exaggeration.
