气 — qì

1. air; gas

   空气里有一股奇怪的气味。 kōngqì lǐ yǒu yīgǔ qíguài de qìwèi — There is a strange smell in the air.

2. smell; odor (often neutral or negative)

   屋子里有一股油漆的气。 wūzilǐ yǒu yīgǔ yóuqī de qì — There is a smell of paint in the room.

3. weather; atmosphere (meteorological)

   山中之气清新宜人，让人心旷神怡。 shānzhōng zhī qì qīngxīn yírén ràng rén xīnkuàngshényí — The mountain air is fresh and pleasant, lifting one's spirits.

4. to make angry; to annoy; to get angry

   别气他了，他已经很难受。 biéqì tā le tā yǐjīng hěn nánshòu — Don't anger him; he's already feeling bad.

5. vital energy; qi (traditional Chinese medicine/philosophy)

   中医认为人体的气要保持平衡。 zhōngyī rènwéi réntǐ de qì yào bǎochípínghéng — Traditional Chinese medicine believes the body's qi should remain balanced.
