毛 — máo

1. hair; feather; down; wool (animal fibres)

   这件衣服上有很多毛。 zhèjiàn yīfú shàngyǒu hěnduō máo — There is a lot of lint/hair on this piece of clothing.

2. mildew; mould (fungal growth)

   面包放久了，上面长毛了。 miànbāo fàng jiǔ le shàngmiàn chángmáo le — The bread had been left too long and grew mold on it.

3. coarse; semi-finished; raw (not fully processed)

   这种毛料还很粗，需要进一步加工。 zhèzhǒng máoliào hái hěncū xūyào jìnyíbù jiāgōng — This woolen material is still coarse and needs further processing.
