   明天有一场足球比赛，大家都很期待。 míngtiān yǒu yīcháng zúqiúbǐsài dàjiā dōu hěn qīdài — There's a soccer match tomorrow; everyone is looking forward to it.

2. to compete; to vie (for a prize, position)

   他在比赛中表现得很勇敢，尽力去争取胜利。 tā zài bǐsài zhōng biǎoxiàn dé hěn yǒnggǎn jìnlì qù zhēngqǔ shènglì — He performed bravely in the competition, trying his best to win.
