歪 — wāi

1. askew; crooked; tilted

   那幅画挂歪了，要把钉子再调一下。 nàfú huà guà wāi le yào bǎ dīngzi zài diào yīxià — That picture is hanging crooked; we need to adjust the nail.

2. devious; morally twisted; biased (figurative, usually negative)

   他说的话有点歪，不能完全相信。 tā shuō dehuà yǒudiǎn wāi bùnéng wánquán xiāngxìn — What he said is a bit twisted; you can't fully trust it.

3. (colloquial) to lie/lean on one's side

   小狗在沙发上歪着睡，样子很可爱。 xiǎogǒu zài shāfā shàng wāi zhe shuì yàngzi hěn kěài — The puppy is sleeping on the sofa on its side; it looks very cute.

歪 — wǎi

1. to sprain (one's ankle) (Taiwan)

   他昨天踢球时把脚歪了，今天走路还一拐一拐的。 tā zuótiān tīqiú shí bǎ jiǎo wāi le jīntiān zǒulù hái yī guǎi yī guǎi de — He sprained his ankle while playing football yesterday; today he still limps.
