1. number of times; frequency

   会议的出席次数很重要。 huìyì de chūxí cìshù hěn zhòngyào — The number of times someone has attended meetings is important.

2. order number (in a series); ordinal position

   这份报告列在清单上的第三个次数。 zhèfèn bàogào liè zài qīngdān shàng de dìsāngè cìshù — This report is listed at the third position on the list.

3. power (in mathematics), e.g., exponent

   x 的二次方，次数是 2。 x de èrcìfāng cìshù shì 2 — For x squared, the power (exponent) is 2.

4. degree of a polynomial (math.)

   该多项式的次数是 4，因为最高项是 x⁴。 gāi duōxiàngshì de cìshù shì 4 yīnwèi zuìgāo xiàng shì x — The degree of the polynomial is 4, because the highest term is x⁴.
