杆 — gǎn

1. stick; rod; lever

   他用一根杆子撬开了箱子。 tāyòng yīgēn gānzi qiàokāi le xiāngzi — He pried open the box with a rod.

2. classifier for long thin objects (e.g. guns)

   他扛着三杆猎枪进了森林。 tā kángzhe sāngān lièqiāng jìn le sēnlín — He shouldered three rifles and headed into the forest.
