机械 — jīxiè

1. machine; machinery (general term for machines or mechanical equipment)

   工厂里有很多大型机械在运转。 gōngchǎng lǐ yǒu hěnduō dàxíng jīxiè zài yùnzhuàn — There are many large machines operating in the factory.

2. mechanical (operated by or relating to machines; also describes actions done automatically, without thought)

   他做事很机械，总是照着步骤走，缺少创新。 tā zuòshì hěn jīxiè zǒngshì zhàozhe bùzhòu zǒu quēshǎo chuàngxīn — He works mechanically, always following steps and lacking creativity.

3. (archaic) cunning; scheming (old use describing crafty or deceitful behavior)

   他做事过于机械，难免引人怀疑。 tā zuòshì guòyú jīxiè nánmiǎn yǐnrén huáiyí — He acts too cunningly, which inevitably arouses suspicion.
