2. expectation; hope (a belief about a desired outcome)

   对孩子的期望不应太高，要考虑他们的兴趣和能力。 duì háizi de qīwàng bùyīng tài gāo yào kǎolǜ tāmen de xìngqù hé nénglì — Expectations for children shouldn't be too high; consider their interests and abilities.
