服 — fú

1. clothes; dress; garment

   换好衣服就出门吧。 huàn hǎo yīfú jiù chūmén ba — Put on your clothes and let's go out.

2. to serve (in the military); to do time (in prison); to perform service

   他在部队服役了三年。 tā zài bùduì fúyì le sānnián — He served three years in the military.

3. to obey; to submit; to comply

   孩子们要服从老师的安排。 háizi men yào fúcóng lǎoshī de ānpái — Children should obey the teacher's arrangements.

4. to be convinced (by an argument); to admire; to accept as convincing

   听了他的解释，我服了。 tīng le tā de jiěshì wǒ fú le — After hearing his explanation, I was convinced.

5. to acclimatize; to adapt (to climate, environment)

   刚到高原的人需要时间服应那里的气候。 gāng dào gāoyuán de rén xūyào shíjiān fú yīng nàlǐ de qìhòu — People newly arrived on the plateau need time to acclimatize to the climate there.

6. to take (medicine); to服 (as in to take a dose)

   饭后服两片药。 fànhòu fú liǎngpiàn yào — Take two pills after the meal.

7. mourning clothes; to wear mourning clothes (phrase sense)

   按习俗，他要穿孝服三年。 àn xísú tā yào chuān xiàofú sānnián — According to custom, he must wear mourning clothes for three years.

服 — fù

1. classifier for medicine: dose; (Taiwan pron. fu2)

   这药要服一服两次。 zhè yào yào fú yīfù liǎngcì — This medicine should be taken two doses.
