1. to have; there is (existential)

   桌子上有一本书。 zhuōzi shàngyǒu yī běnshū — There is a book on the table.

2. having; with (used before nouns in compounds: 'with X', 'possessing X')

   他是一个有经验的老师。 tā shì yígè yǒu jīngyàn de lǎoshī — He is a teacher with experience (an experienced teacher).

3. bound form/affix meaning -ful, -ed, -al (forms adjectives or verbal phrases, e.g. 有意 'intentional')

   他有意这样做。 tā yǒuyì zhèyàng zuò — He did this intentionally.
