更 — gēng

1. to change; to replace

   工人正在更换旧灯泡。 gōngrén zhèngzài gēnghuàn jiù dēngpào — The worker is replacing the old bulb.

2. to undergo; to experience (an event or state)

   几年间公司更迭了多位总裁。 jǐnián jiān gōngsī gēngdié le duōwèi zǒngcái — The company went through several presidents in a few years.
