1. right and wrong; the distinction between what is right and wrong

   他分不清是非。 tā fēnbùqīng shìfēi — He can't tell right from wrong.

2. to quarrel; to cause/engage in disputes or gossip (often 搬弄是非 'to stir up trouble')

   别跟他计较是非，省得惹麻烦。 bié gēn tā jìjiào shìfēi shěngde rěmáfán — Don't argue with him about petty disputes; you'll only cause trouble.
