1. already

   他的功课既已做完，可以出去玩了。 tā de gōngkè jì yǐ zuò wán kěyǐ chūqùwán le — Now that his homework is already done, he can go out and play.

2. since; now that (introducing a premise)

   既然天气不好，我们就改天去。 jìrán tiānqì bùhǎo wǒmen jiù gǎitiān qù — Since the weather is bad, we'll go another day.

3. both... and... (used in the correlative 既...又... pattern)

   他既聪明又勤奋，大家都很佩服他。 tā jì cōngmíng yòu qínfèn dàjiā dōu hěn pèifú tā — He is both smart and hardworking; everyone admires him.
