1. race; ethnicity; nationality (a group of people sharing common ancestry or cultural traits)

   在这个国家，不同族群之间需要更多的对话。 zài zhège guójiā bùtóng zúqún zhījiān xūyào gèngduō de duìhuà — In this country, more dialogue is needed between different ethnic groups.

2. clan; lineage (extended family or kin group)

   这个古老的村庄有几个历史悠久的大家族，每个族都有自己的祠堂。 zhège gǔlǎo de cūnzhuāng yǒu jǐgè lìshǐyōujiǔ de dàjiāzú měigè zú dōu yǒu zìjǐ de cítáng — This old village has several long-established clans; each has its own ancestral hall.

3. suffix meaning 'group' or 'people who do X' (used in compounds, e.g. 上班族 office workers)

   现在经常熬夜的人被称为夜猫族。 xiànzài jīngcháng áoyè de rén bèi chēngwéi yèmāozú — Nowadays, people who often stay up late are called 'night-owl group'.
