新人 — xīnrén

1. newcomer; new recruit; fresh talent (a person newly arrived or recently hired)

   我们公司来了两个新人，要记得带他们熟悉流程。 wǒmen gōngsī lái le liǎnggè xīnrén yào jìde dài tāmen shúxī liúchéng — Two newcomers have joined our company; remember to help them learn the procedures.

2. newlywed (esp. new bride)

   她刚结婚，大家都叫她新人。 tā gāng jiéhūn dàjiā dōu jiào tā xīnrén — She just got married; everyone calls her a 'newlywed'.

3. newlywed couple; bride and groom

   婚礼上所有人都祝福这对新人幸福美满。 hūnlǐ shàng suǒyǒurén dōu zhùfú zhè duì xīnrén xìngfúměimǎn — At the wedding everyone wished the newlyweds a happy marriage.

4. (paleoanthropology) later-period Homo sapiens

   这些化石属于晚期新人阶段。 zhèxiē huàshí shǔyú wǎnqī xīnrén jiēduàn — These fossils belong to the late-period Homo sapiens stage.
