1. to hit; to strike; to tap; to rap; to knock (on a surface or door)

   有人在敲门。 yǒurén zài qiāomén — Someone is knocking at the door.

2. to rip somebody off; to overcharge; to cheat (colloquial)

   那个店把我们敲得太厉害了，价钱不合理。 nàge diàn bǎ wǒmen qiāo dé tài lìhài le jiàqián bùhélǐ — That shop ripped us off badly; the price was unreasonable.
