敬礼 — jìnglǐ

1. to salute (as a gesture of respect, esp. in military or formal contexts)

   士兵向国旗敬礼。 shìbīng xiàng guóqí jìnglǐ — The soldier saluted the national flag.

2. a salute; the act of saluting

   他向长辈行了一个敬礼。 tā xiàng zhǎngbèi xíng le yígè jìnglǐ — He gave a salute to the elder.
