   我收到了你的邮件。 wǒ shōudào le nǐ de yóujiàn — I received your email.

2. to collect (things); to gather

   她每天收邮票作为爱好。 tā měitiān shōu yóupiào zuòwéi àihào — She collects stamps as a hobby.

3. to put away; to store; to tidy up

   请把玩具收起来。 qǐng bǎ wánjù shōu qǐlái — Please put the toys away.

4. to restrain; to stop; to bring under control

   警察及时收住了混乱的局面。 jǐngchá jíshí shōuzhù le hùnluàn de júmiàn — The police promptly brought the chaotic situation under control.

5. in care of (used on an address line after a name)

   请把信寄到张三收。 qǐng bǎ xìn jìdào zhāng sān shōu — Please send the letter to be received by Zhang San (c/o Zhang San).
