1. to throw; to cast; to fling (an object or one's hand/eye)

   他把报纸撇到一边，不再看了。 tā bǎ bàozhǐ piē dào yībiān bùzài kàn le — He tossed the newspaper aside and didn't read it anymore.

2. left-slanting downward brush stroke (in Chinese calligraphy)

   汉字的撇是基本笔画之一。 hànzì de piē shì jīběn bǐhuà zhīyī — The piē is one of the basic strokes of Chinese characters.
