摸 — mō

1. to feel with the hand; to touch; to stroke

   他在猫身上轻轻摸了摸。 tā zài māo shēnshàng qīngqīng mōlemō — He gently stroked the cat.

2. to grope; to feel about blindly (e.g., in the dark)

   停电了，我们只好在黑暗中摸路。 tíngdiàn le wǒmen zhǐhǎo zài hēiàn zhōng mō lù — The power went out, so we had to feel our way along the road in the dark.

3. to steal; to abstract (colloquial)

   他被抓到摸了别人的钱包。 tā bèi zhuādào mō le biérén de qiánbāo — He was caught stealing someone else's wallet.

摸 — mó

1. variant of 摹 (mó): to trace; to copy (calligraphy or a pattern)

   学生认真地摸着老师的字帖练习。 xuéshēng rènzhēn dì mō zhe lǎoshī de zìtiè liànxí — The student earnestly traced the teacher's calligraphy model to practice.
