   他用身体掩护孩子们撤退。 tāyòng shēntǐ yǎnhù háizi men chètuì — He used his body to shield the children while they withdrew.

2. protection; cover (military or protective cover)

   炮火为部队提供掩护。 pàohuǒ wèi bùduì tígōng yǎnhù — Artillery provided cover for the troops.
