指点 — zhǐdiǎn

1. to point out; to indicate

   他在地图上指点了我们的路线。 tā zài dìtú shàng zhǐdiǎn le wǒmen de lùxiàn — He pointed out our route on the map.

2. to give directions; to show how (to do something); to instruct

   老板亲自来指点新员工怎么使用设备。 lǎobǎn qīnzì lái zhǐdiǎn xīn yuángōng zěnme shǐyòng shèbèi — The boss personally came to show the new employee how to use the equipment.

3. to censure; to pick at; to criticize (often sharply)

   别老指点别人的缺点，多看看自己的问题。 bié lǎo zhǐdiǎn biérén de quēdiǎn duō kànkàn zìjǐ de wèntí — Don't keep pointing out others' faults; look more at your own problems.
