指挥 — zhǐhuī

1. to conduct (an orchestra); to direct musical performance

   他指挥交响乐团演出。 tā zhǐhuī jiāoxiǎngyuètuán yǎnchū — He conducted the symphony orchestra performance.

2. to command; to direct (people, operations); to give orders

   他负责指挥救援行动。 tā fùzé zhǐhuī jiùyuán xíngdòng — He is in charge of directing the rescue operation.

3. conductor (of an orchestra)

   她是这支乐队的指挥。 tā shì zhè zhīyuèduì de zhǐhuī — She is the conductor of this orchestra.
