拾 — shí

1. to pick up (from the ground)

   他在地上拾起一张照片。 tā zài dìshàng shíqǐ yīzhāng zhàopiān — He picked up a photo from the ground.

2. to collate; to arrange; to put in order

   她下班后把桌上的文件拾得整整齐齐。 tā xiàbān hòu bǎ zhuōshàng de wénjiàn shídé zhěngzhěngqíqí — After work she neatly tidied the documents on her desk.

3. ten (banker's anti-fraud numeral used in financial documents)

   支票上的金额用拾字书写以防伪造。 zhīpiào shàng de jīné yòng shí zì shūxiě yǐfáng wěizào — The amount on the cheque is written with the formal numeral shi to prevent fraud.

1. to ascend in light steps; to tread lightly when climbing

   她拾阶而上，轻轻来到楼顶。 tā shí jiē ér shàng qīngqīng láidào lóudǐng — She climbed the steps lightly and came up to the roof.
