拖 — tuō

1. to drag; to tow

   他用绳子把车拖到路边。 tā yòng shéng zi bǎ chē tuō dào lù biān 。 — He used a rope to tow the car to the roadside.

2. to trail (behind); to lag; to be left behind

   在比赛中他被对手拖在后面。 zài bǐ sài zhōng tā bèi duì shǒu tuō zài hòu miàn 。 — In the race he was trailing behind his opponents.

3. to hang down; to droop

   树枝被雪压得往下拖。 shù zhī bèi xuě yā dé wǎng xià tuō 。 — The branches were weighed down and hanging down by the snow.

4. to mop (the floor)

   她每天晚上都拖地。 tā měi tiān wǎn shàng dōu tuō dì 。 — She mops the floor every evening.

5. to delay; to put off

   别再拖时间了，赶快开始吧。 bié zài tuō shí jiān le ， gǎn kuài kāi shǐ ba 。 — Don't delay any longer, start quickly.

6. to drag on; to continue for a long time (of events)

   会议一直拖到深夜才结束。 huì yì yì zhí tuō dào shēn yè cái jié shù 。 — The meeting dragged on until late at night.
