1. to perform divination with sticks (e.g., Chinese fortune-telling using bamboo lots)

   庙里的人排队抽签求签，问一问新年的运势。 miàolǐ de rén páiduì chōuqiān qiúqiān wènyīwèn xīnnián de yùnshì — People in the temple queued to draw lots for divination, asking about their luck for the new year.

2. to draw lots; to choose by drawing lots (to decide by chance)

   我们抽签决定谁先上台发言。 wǒmen chōuqiān juédìng shuí xiān shàngtái fāyán — We drew lots to decide who would speak first on stage.

3. a ballot or lot used in share dealing or similar financial allocation (a drawing or ticket)

   在新股申购人数众多时，公司通常通过抽签分配股份。 zài xīngǔshēngòu rénshù zhòngduō shí gōngsī tōngcháng tōngguò chōuqiān fēnpèi gǔfèn — When there are many applicants for a new share issue, the company usually allocates shares by drawing lots.
