1. to mortgage; to pawn (put up as security for a loan)

   他把祖传的手表押给当铺换了些钱。 tā bǎ zǔchuán de shǒubiǎo yāgěi dàngpù huàn le xiē qián — He pawned the heirloom watch at a pawnshop to get some money.

2. to detain in custody; to hold (someone) under guard

   警方已将嫌疑人押回局里进一步调查。 jǐngfāng yǐjiāng xiányírén yāhuí júlǐ jìnyíbù diàochá — The police have escorted the suspect back to the station for further investigation.

3. to escort and protect (e.g., goods or prisoners); to convoy

   押运人员负责把贵重物品押送到机场。 yāyùn rényuán fùzé bǎ guìzhòngwùpǐn yāsòng dào jīchǎng — Escort staff are responsible for convoying the valuables to the airport.

4. (literary) to sign (a document)

   请在合同末尾签字押。 qǐng zài hétóng mòwěi qiānzì yā — Please sign and stamp at the end of the contract.
