抢 — qiǎng

1. to fight over; to rush; to scramble; to grab; to snatch (competing to obtain)

   大家都抢着发言，会议一时秩序混乱。 dàjiā dōu qiǎng zhe fāyán huìyì yīshí zhìxù hùnluàn — Everyone rushed to speak; the meeting became chaotic for a while.

2. to rob; to snatch (take by force or theft)

   小偷在街上抢了她的包，然后逃跑了。 xiǎotōu zài jiēshàng qiǎng le tā de bāo ránhòu táopǎo le — A thief snatched her bag on the street and then ran away.

抢 — qiāng

1. to knock against; (literary) to strike (esp. to knock one's head on the ground in grief or rage)

   他不小心抢到了门框上。 tā bùxiǎo xīn qiǎngdào le ménkuāng shàng — He accidentally knocked into the door frame.

2. opposite in direction; contrary

   船迎风抢行，速度很慢。 chuán yíngfēng qiǎng xíng sùdù hěnmàn — The boat sailed against the wind, moving slowly.
