抖 — dǒu

1. to tremble; to shake (from cold, fear, etc.)

   他一听到声音就开始抖。 tā yī tīngdào shēngyīn jiù kāishǐ dǒu — He started trembling as soon as he heard the sound.

2. to shake out (e.g. dust from clothes); to flick

   她把外套抖一抖，把灰尘都抖掉了。 tā bǎ wàitào dǒu yī dǒu bǎ huīchén dōu dǒudiào le — She shook her coat and knocked off the dust.

3. to reveal; to expose (often information or secrets)

   他在采访中把真相全都抖出来了。 tā zài cǎifǎng zhōng bǎ zhēnxiàng quándōu dǒuchūlái le — He revealed the whole truth during the interview.

4. to make it in the world; to succeed or get by (colloquial)

   他靠自己的努力终于抖出来了。 tā kào zìjǐ de nǔlì zhōngyú dǒuchūlái le — He finally made it in the world by his own effort.
