把 — bǎ

1. to hold; to grasp

   他用力把住门，不让风吹开。 tā yònglì bǎzhù mén bùràng fēngchuī kāi — He held the door firmly so the wind wouldn't blow it open.

2. to hold a baby in position to help it urinate or defecate

   奶奶常常把孙子把尿。 nǎinǎi chángcháng bǎ sūnzi bǎ niào — Grandma often holds the grandson in position to help him pee.

3. handlebar; handle

   自行车把坏了，要修一下。 zìxíngchē bǎ huài le yào xiū yīxià — The bicycle handlebars are broken and need fixing.

4. classifier: handful, bundle, bunch; classifier for things with handles

   他买了一把椅子。 tā mǎi le yībǎ yǐzi — He bought a chair (one chair).

5. (grammar) used to put the object before the verb: '把' + noun + verb — indicates disposal, handling, or result

   请把门关上。 qǐng bǎmén guānshàng — Please close the door (lit. Please 'take the door' close up).
