戳 — chuō

1. to jab; to poke; to stab

   别用那根棍子戳我，疼！ bié yòng nàgēn gùnzi chuō wǒ téng — Don't poke me with that stick, it hurts!

2. (coll.) to sprain (informal use)

   跑步时不小心把脚给戳了，结果扭到了。 pǎobù shí bùxiǎo xīn bǎ jiǎo gěi chuō le jiéguǒ niǔdào le — He accidentally sprained his foot while running.

3. to blunt; to dull (an edge) (colloquial)

   老是用那把刀戳砧板，刀刃都戳钝了。 lǎo shì yòng nà bǎ dāo chuō zhēnbǎn dāorèn dōu chuō dùn le — Constantly poking the cutting board with that knife has blunted the blade.

4. to fuck (vulgar; sexual slang)

   他喝多了，张口就用那个字戳人，被朋友拉走了。 tā hē duō le zhāngkǒu jiù yòng nàge zì chuō rén bèi péngyǒu lāzǒu le — Drunk, he started cursing people with that vulgar word and was dragged away by his friends.

5. to stand; to place upright; to set (sth) upright

   把椅子戳起来靠墙放好。 bǎ yǐzi chuō qǐlái kàoqiáng fànghǎo — Stand the chairs up and place them against the wall.

6. to stamp; to seal (e.g., with a seal or stamp)

   公文处理时需要在文件上戳章确认。 gōngwén chǔlǐ shí xūyào zài wénjiàn shàng chuō zhāng quèrèn — When processing official documents, you need to stamp them to confirm.
